Setting Intentions for the Month of January

I adore the feeling of a fresh new year and the blank pages of a new journal. After the hectic merriment of Christmas, it feels right for me to make January a slower month. I like to focus on comfort and time at home.

“Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark on a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour. ”

-John Boswell

Each month I begin by setting five intentions or themes on how to spend my leisure time and savor the season. You can go back and read December’s intentions here. It gives a brief introduction to our new series of setting monthly intentions.

My five intentions for January…

*Learn to make hot chai just like I had on our honeymoon in Oregon.

*As a young girl, I dreamed of writing British murder mysteries. This time of year, I absolutely love curling up under a blanket and watching Agatha Christie specials with Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. This is the time of year of I give myself permission to watch elaborate amounts of television.

*Enjoy the blanket scarves hanging in my closet. This tutorial on how to tie a blanket scarf is quite helpful.

*Have large pots of heirloom bean soups and stews with root vegetables. January is the month of winter I can never make enough piping hot soup. Especially soups with dried beans.

*Find a skincare routine that nourishes my itchy, dry winter skin. Any suggestions?

January is also a lovely time to start a new morning ritual of early rising and scripture meditation.

As always, I love to hear from you and your intentions for January. Share your favorite pins with me on Pinterest or comment on Facebook.
