The new year is upon us, and hopefully January is a month where your calendar frees up with space for journaling and reflection. My thoughts have been on living life to the fullest and if this month’s journaling prompts were summed up in one word it would be abundance.
Define abundance. What does abundance look like to you?
This is not, of course, limited to only an abundance of money. (Although an abundance of money is useful in being a blessing to others.) The definition of abundance is overflowing fullness. If you were truly living an abundant life, what would that look like to you? What vision of daily life fills your heart with overflowing fullness? Having ample time to cook and entertain friends and family? Owning your own interior design business? Having a larger family? Spending more time outdoors and active? Write everything you can think of.
Prayerfully reflect on what gifts God has given you personally. Even if there is only one that comes to mind, write that down.
Your gift or gifts will be something that makes you feel full of energy, joy, and enthusiasm. The more we use our gifts the richer our life becomes. We are fulfilled and wake up each morning with a sense of purpose. The more and more our life becomes centered around our passion and purpose, the less room there is for disinterest.
“The thief comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full till it overflows). ”
I remember it was only three years ago that this Bible verse really sank in for me. God wants me to live an abundant life! That is such a freeing revelation.
If you embraced the abundant life Christ died to give you, how would that life look?
Sometimes I have to remind myself that Christ qualified me for every blessing. Take time and consider what this year can look like overflowing with blessings. How would the 2018 year ahead look full of joy, radiant health, and God’s favor.
Keep this journal page open all month and really allow yourself to write something that lights you up and fills you with hope and anticipation for 2018. Gather your snippets of abundance and allow your self to prayerfully create a lovely vision of what is ahead.
If you haven’t already, write your five intentions for January. Essentially, a plan of how you plan to spend your free time and expend your creative energy this month.
This is also the month so many people are rushing to buy a new planner. Here are some creative ideas of how to utilize your planner for more than just events.
